Test your Internet speed to see if it matches what you're paying for

Ever feel like your Internet is running slow? Sometimes Web pages take forever to load, and don't even get me started about downloading programs, pictures or even videos.

It's very frustrating, especially when you pay for high-speed Internet. The problem is that it's not always the same thing that's causing your Internet to run slowly.

Many things can cause websites and emails to load slowly. It could be your browser, your computer or a website problem.

The place to start, however, is your Internet connection. For that, you need Speedtest.net.

Speedtest.net will measure the ping time, download speed and upload speed of your Internet connection.

Ping measures how fast you get a response back from the test server. The lower the number is the better. If you play online multiplayer games, you'll want less than 100 milliseconds.

As for uploading and downloading, measurements are given in bits per second. Higher numbers are better. Download speeds will typically be much faster than upload speeds

You can compare these numbers against the speeds that your Internet service provider promises you. Be sure to run multiple tests over several days at different times. This will give you on overall picture of your connection speed. You also might find specific periods that it's slow.

Download Instructions

Before you test your speed, close any other browser tabs. Also, stop any downloads you may have in progress. You will also want to use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi. A spotty Wi-Fi signal can affect the results.

Speedtest will recommend you download Chrome to improve your speed. Chrome typically tests faster than other browsers, but it isn't mandatory.

Whichever browser you use, you'll want to update to the latest version. Not only will your speed improve, you'll be less susceptible to viruses and malware.

To test your download speed, navigate to the Speedtest.net site and click the green button labeled "Begin Test" in the middle of the screen. It will automatically detect test servers near your location.

Note: If you click on anything other than "Begin Test," it is most likely an ad. This is a free test, and will not ask for your payment information, nor will it install anything to your computer. If any of these things happen, you have clicked the wrong link. Follow the instructions above to get the correct link.

For the first test, use the server it chooses. Afterward, you can try other servers around the country if you want.

Want to test your cellular connection? Click here to try out the mobile version of Speedtest.net.

How To Stop Windows 10 From Installing Update Automatically on your PC

As a general rule, an up-to-date operating system is a secure operating system, and some people are terrible at updating their operating systems.

If your main issue with Windows 10's automatic updates is the fact that your PC restarts at inopportune times, you're in luck: Windows 10 allows you to schedule restarts for a specific time. When a new update has been downloaded and installed, Windows 10 will prompt you to schedule a time for your PC to restart.

The easiest way to prevent Windows 10 from automatically downloading updates is to use a metered Internet connection -- one of the features of limiting your data is that Windows 10 won't force-download OS updates. Some networks, such as cell networks, are metered by default, but you can also meter your Wi-Fi network by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Advanced options and turning Set metered connection on.

You can't meter your Ethernet connection through the Settings menu -- Microsoft assumes your Ethernet connection allows you unlimited data, apparently. The only way to set your Ethernet connection to metered is to perform a registry edit -- it's a little complicated, but here's how to do it.

You can still download updates on a metered connection, you'll just have to do it manually by going to Settings > Windows Update > Download.
Disable automatic driver updates

While you can't really stop Windows 10 from automatically updating the OS, you can stop it from automatically updating your device drivers. To do this, right-click the Start button and click Control Panel.

STEPS

In the Control Panel, go to System and click Advanced system settings to open the System Properties window.

Open the Hardware tab and click Device Installation Settings.

When prompted with this message, click No and click Save Changes.

SAVE YOUR WATER DAMAGED CELL PHONE WITH RICE !!

Did your cell phone recently get wet? Is it no longer working? Don't worry; try putting it in some rice! You’ve probably heard a story similar to this one: “My died after it fell into the toilet, but he put it in a container of rice and now it’s fine!” Conventional thought says the rice will suck the moisture right out of the phone and restore it to life. Hey, I saved my phone by putting it in a container of uncooked rice overnight… it must be true!

I hope rice can help save your water damaged cell phone too!

Acting quickly reduces the risk of water to damage deep inside the phone, however don't panic. There still may be hope. Just follow these steps and you'll have a good chance

STEPS
1. Grab your phone out of the water as quickly as possible and turn it off immediately, as leaving it on can cause it to short circuit
2. After removing the phone from water, gather some paper towels or soft cloths to lay the phone on while you remove the battery cover and battery
3. Do not shake your phone and do not apply any kind of heat in your phone.
4. Remove all the peripheral device like simcard, memory card etc. wherever the SIM cards survive in water, but getting it out immediately makes good sense
5. You can use vacuum cleaner to suck out water, you don’t have it, it’s ok you can use the high affinity absorbent substance like RICE which dry water very well!

6. USE RICE:-
Submerge the wet phone inside the bag of uncooked rice overnight, it’s an inexpensive method; rice has high affinity of absorbing water

DON’T use a hair dryer to dry out a phone or blow the phone using your mouth because:-
- It will force father moisture deep inside to the phone
- It will interfere with circuit and causes component failure inside the phone.

Most of phones come with water sticker .so if your phone gets wet these stickers colors will change from white to small draft line

If you’ve drowned your phone and there’s no getting it back, head on to electronic store, Sometimes they can fix it or your drowned device is probably still worth some good money.

Don't try to hide the fact that it has been wet - there are internal indicators that prove moisture - and the repair people are more likely to be able to help you if you explain exactly what has happened to the phone.  So trade the wet phone and you can use the cash to help pay for a new one – or a waterproof case.

I hope the tricks could help you recover your device... and visit again for more tips..
